by Melissa N. on Venue: Exchange LA is located in downtown LA, and across from Syrup. There is plenty of public parking lots on the surrounding streets, and most if not all of these lots have a cheap flat rate of 5.00-8.00 for parking in comparison to Hollywood's notorious $20 flat rate lots. Keep in mind you are in downtown so beware of bums and crazies in the streets on your way out! The line usually gets long when you arrive after 10:00pm, as guestlist gets closer to ending time. Once inside, you get carded by like three different bouncers, so if you're not of legal drinking age, I highly suggest you either have implants or a really good fake id! There is a long hallway that leads to the restrooms and smoking patio outside. The restroom has multiple mirrors(always a plus for girls) and plenty of stalls, however there are only restrooms downstairs. Once you go up the huge carpeted stairway, you'll make your way to the bottom level of the club. Drinks: There are three different bars on the bottom level, and I believe 1-2 on the second. Beers are about $7 each and mixed drinks are about $15 each--standard nightclub prices. I have never gotten charged a minimum of $30 for using my credit card, not sure what that was about for other reviewers? I'm sure I charged only $15 on it once too. Music: Music was pretty good as I remember it. The DJ mixed it up a lot and played a little of everything, but towards the end of the night, it was mostly house and trance. The night we went, Power 106's DJ Coke-E was there spinning too! :) TIP: Dirty dog carts galore on your way out for late night munchies, $4.00 for each...it's worth it when you're drunkk. And yes, if you don't enjoy partying with the entire Asian community on Saturday, you probably should try coming a different night, because that's all you'll see here Saturday!

Ticket window is around the corner on a tiny walkway and has limited hours. Parking of course is difficult, but on the weekends taxis can generally be found around North Beach, since you might be headed out that way after the event. Jump at the chance to enjoy san francisco ala film noir film set style for your music.
