The free food sucks big time (what would u expect from a freebie?), but the free salsa lesson is very cool and it does prepare u a lil when ur thrown into the jungle dancing floor with the pros... lol I had a great time, but you need to be the type of person who doesn't get intimidated by such a situation. If you are expecting to dance and not being bumped around a little, you shouldn't come here.

so many good memories here... the brits have radiohead. the new yawkers have interpol. we have??? um, well, we have gamh. that's right! this is the crowning jewel of the san francisco music scene. year in, year out, no venue gives me goose bumps like gamh. forget fillmore and warfield, if i was a rock star, this is where i want to play. small and intimate yet elegant and opulent... ahhh, one time i saw pj harvey here. i fought my way to the very front to see the goddess of darkness herself. her intensity, volatility and angst completely overpowered me with such black energy that i was brooding for weeks. oh how i wanted her. oh how i wanted her so badly...

As far as entertainment value goes, it gets high marks.  However, for those of us who are vertically challenged, because it's pretty much standing room only the chance of you getting stuck behind someone tall (or a pole) is pretty common.  If you can put up with that you'll probably have a great time.
