by Ray Simmoms on So, this is the second Irish pub I've been to in Atlanta. The first one was a total miss. Fado, however, is awesome! We arrived there while the soccer game was playing...and I have to say...it was a bit weird to me. Everyone was watching the game...and I mean...everyone. The lights were dim. You hear the Irish accents cheering and cursing. I have to say, they definitely made the game more interesting. The minute the game ended, everyone took off, the lights brightened, and the music came back on. A true sports bar. Now, I must say...the minute we walked in...everyone looked so 'conservative'. There were many people in business wear. Everyone pretty much minded their own business though. The food...we had the Chicken Boxty Quesadilla and the Smoked Salmon Bites. The appetizer was soooo delicious and fulfilling. We were so full from eating just the quesadilla. My gf ordered the Fish and Chips. Wow, the fish filets were huge! I ordered the Old Fashioned Cheesesteak. This was the first time I felt like I didn't have add any extra condiments. I really enjoyed how everything was setup. The place felt really cozy. The service was GREAT.
by David K. on Honestly, I'm not sure what I expected a Gerber Group bar to look like. I think that this is about what I expected and it's a nice addition to Atlanta. I think my favorite thing about coming here is the long, dramatic walk you have to take to find your way inside... through the lobby, up several sets of stairs overlooking the Living Room, pass the bar at Spice Market, and then finally up another staircase that feels almost like a cat walk (I guess if you're feeling fancy that's what you could call it). While the space is was very nicely designed, it lacks a "wow." I guess that's okay because it still feels very upscale (closing your tab also might feel upscale because of how much drinks cost, but I digress). This place is usually pretty crowded on the weekend and they now host weekly events throughout the week. Last Thursday night I came to check out "Hydrate" when Kelly Rowland and Kristine W. ended up being surprise guests. I think Lauren S. said it best when she described it as a "bring your own crowd if you wanna have fun" kind of place. Lucky for me the gays have most divas on speed dial, so the crowd was set as soon as I got there.
by Adah Bogatitus on I could not help but think of Crazy Train by Ozzy - "All aboard....ha ha ha ha ha" - as i approached the Frying Pan....and then the SNL skit 'I'm on a boat' kept playing in my head while I was at this bar....on a boat. -- It's a very unique setting for a bar. NOTE: If you are prone to motion sickness, you might need some dramamine before you come here or just have enough drinks until you no longer notice the rocking! :) It's a great outdoor drinking spot, especially for a group of people or for a date. Perfect way to spend a Saturday day by the water and then watch the sun go down. I had mussels and the fries. The fries were too crispy for me, but the mussels and my friends' burgers were good. It gets pretty crowded, but I was with a big group of people, so I honestly did not notice what the crowd was like and the extremely strong cosmos the bartender was making for me probably added to this over sight. If you are having problems getting a drink at the main bar, go to the side bar in the back. I never once had to wait in line for a drink.
