Can be summed up pretty simply, yes its gorgeous inside, yes it is AWESOME to have bottle service, yes the people are either beautiful or rich and ugly. The music is fantastic and when you cross that threshold, you're hot shit for the next 3 hours. I have met so many cool people here and the bartenders have always been the biggest of sweathearts. But you have to know someone or know someone who knows someone and you have to work to look good enough to get in cos lord know I dont have the money to buy my way in. So when I can get in it is LOVELY but when I can't its a pretentious k-hole that im too cool for anyway, =) at least im honest.
by Michaela S. on oh my asian clusterf*ck. san francisco is definitely lacking in nice nightclubs that aren't located in basements or warehouses, so i was really hoping sloane would live up to my expectations as the "cool new place." a group of us wandered over on a friday night after some coaxing from a friend who claimed to have gotten bottle service. we were asked to wait in the much shorter line for folks who choose to pay the 1000% mark-up for such service, but alas, our friend opted out of bottle service, leaving us stranded with nary a name to use on the guest list. (truly a nightmare at 11pm on a saturday night.) i don't even want to know how much my friend "tipped" (ahem, PAID), the bouncer to let us in while our later arrived friends were forced to wait outside in line to fend for themselves. urban jungle indeed, while they stood in the san francisco chill, those of us inside were roasting and smashed against the bar with the hoi poloi (aka non-bottle serviced guests). i think sardines have more room than this. i immediately medicated with two shots of vodka and a cocktail to tolerate the crowd (that set me back $30). definitely not my thing. and definitely a sign i am gearing up (or down?) for my dirty 30s. on the plus side, the decor is crisp and modern, the bartenders were attentive, and the DJ was playing some awesome tunes from high school prom (late 90s hip hop). i would love to experience sloane when it's not a clusterf*ck of young asian professionals and PYTs who can get away with wearing tunic shirts as dresses.
by Chi Peredz on I had a fun time, but for one reason or another it wasn't a biblically fun and exciting experience that I can rave about. So sad, but I did have a lot of fun, and some choice memories... I do remember having a good time and snapping a few pictures as a crowd formed to see the drunkest guy and a girl violently make out for an hour on the dance floor. I was also able to look back and revel in our own insobriety seeing my friend tucking in his dress shirt into his boxers in pictures the next day.. Both of these events still bring a smile to my face, and hopefully they will for you as well when I upload the pictures.
