by Krystal Buther on Hey ladies and gentlemen. My girl friend, sister, cousin and I had gone to Jillians on a Sunday night and we were looking forward to having some drinks before my sister left to LA. We went to the bar found our own seats, got our own napkins, picked up our own menu, and all this while the waitress was talking to the other bartenders and not providing service as any bar/restaurant should. Even after we finished our food which we ordered from another waitress did our original waitress finally bring the silverware. The drinks were good and the food was good but service was horrible plus we had courtside seats to a fight between a guest and one of the waiters. A classic one to with broken glass on the floor and they both looked like they were the same height and weight. I hope they do a background check before they change their staff.
by DIESEL -. on Ahhhh The Phoenix Hotel... My wife and I planned a last minute trip to The City with another couple for a night of unscripted, booze propelled debauchery. I was in charge of picking a neighborhood and places to get our drink on, and the other couple was in charge of setting up the hotel arrangements. While driving to the Bay from Sacto, I thought, why don't I rateclub this "Phoenix Hotel" that my buddies lady was ranting and raving about all day. As I'm sure you've read, most of the reviews talked about The Phoenix's Rock N'Roll history, and it's uniqueness as a glorious shiny gem in the heart of the scary Tenderloin... *Oooooo, chills* **Quick side note - Who really gives a shit about the good reviews? If you're like me, you go right for the 1 and 2 star reviews so you can set low expectations and hopefully be pleasantly surprised while mocking the unfortunate bastard as he bitches about his horrible experience... I would go so far to say that a lot of times, when people scream of "the terrible service", or "I can't believe how disgusting this place is" are probably the source of the problem... WAIT, I'm totally getting off subject. Back to the review... I don't want to bore you with ANOTHER glowing review, spouting off about the cool retro look, fun atmosphere and free parking. No, I'm going to tell you about the terrible review the folks staying in the room right next to us probably wrote on some "other" review site... So, we're pre-partying it up and mixing a few cocktails before heading out for the night. Well, the four of us were hanging outside of our room, consuming our delicious beverage and having a smoke. Our conversation drifted from in depth discussions of what would the world be like if Bradley from Sublime were still alive, to crazy stories about the shittiest jobs we've had. Well I won't go into the gory details, but it involved me having to empty the "feminine product deposit" in the bathroom at a hoopty-ass grocery store I worked at... (Albertson's in Vacaville, Eff that place...) N-E-Wayz, next thing we know the guy next door barges out of his room in his underwear and says, "Can you guys please go inside and lower your voices... It's like you are physically in the room with my wife and I, and we really don't want to hear this conversation." Ahhhhhhh Hahahahahaaa! I'm sure this moment doesn't read as comedy as it was in real life, but goddamn, it was awesome. We quieted down out of respect, but I'm pretty sure they weren't to stoked about the late night activities and shenanigans that took place when we stumbled in at 4:30 in the morning... To make a long ass story even longer... If you're the type of person who would call the cops on your neighbor who's throwing a party, or you require a lot of sleep at night time, The Phoenix Hotel is not for you. It was however, one of the funnest night's I've ever had... Good times.
