by K P. on This place is huge & I really liked the space -- my friend said it was a converted parking garage. We really just drank -- ordered the calamari & a margharita pizza, both were standard, nothing to get excited about, bar food to munch on while drinking. I didn't bother going to the rooftop -- b/c it was cold & grey but overall in my opinion, it's a good place to go with a big group during the week. The inside bar was crowded with the standard suited guys & girls...you know the types.
by Clair Vonniederhaus on It would be unfair to hate on Vessel. I only stayed from 5:30-7:30, which I'm sure are not its peak "good time" hours. With that being said, $6 for a bottle of Stella? Before tip? I got a pint the day before at another bar for $3 during the same hours! Thats 4 more ounces and a whole lot more class! Plastic glassware prevented breakage, but when buying $10 cocktails, hook a sister up with glass. The decor made me feel like i was on the Lido Deck on a cruise ship. Loungey and plush, with tables that looked like decks, champagne bottle holders that looked like port-holes, and a few of those round things you wrap rope around to dock your ship. What are they called? Anyway, that was all fine, until i went to the bathroom, and started to get a little sea-sick with the sounds of jungles and rain occupied all of my brain. I couldn't even think. And i do some of my best thinking on the toilet. Were we on a cruise through the Amazon? Stay focused on a theme, and stick with it...i got confused. I didn't get to see what happens to this place after the sun goes down. I'm sure the crowd changes, the DJ turns up its music, and the bathroom stays just as loud. Would i come here again? If there was a really good reason for me to, yes.....but this place just ain't my speed. If you own a large boat, listen to yacht rock and own deck shoes.....don't forget to drop your jacket off at the free coat check in the front.
