by David M. on One of my favorite NYC music venues. Great sound and nice decor. If you're looking for good house or tech-house music then this is your place. There is no pop music or 80's music being played so don't bother and go elsewhere The only downside is that the club pulls in overflow from the Meatpacking district crowd which look out of place. Plus many self respecting techno enthusiasts won't ever go to Cielo or near the Meatpacking district.
by Jorge Gorrindo on There isn't one category that completely describes the newly opened Ten Pin Alley in Atlantic Station. The phrase "adult playground" comes to mind after making my way through three levels of pool tables, bowling lanes and lounge seating. This place is huge, with my guess being that it will be host to many of the hot and happening events in Atlanta for 2007. When I went by, the place had only been open for a day and the lanes were already packed with bowlers lounging on leather sofas. This is not your parent's bowling alley. You'll feel very at home on the sleek furniture and soft seating. Or maybe you'll feel like you are at someone else's home because the decor and design of Ten Pin is just that fabulous. The rates may seem daunting, but with a big enough group and the type of service and atmosphere you are getting for the money, it works out to be pretty reasonable. Drink menus sat atop each table with specialty cocktails starting at about $12. Only open 48 hours, the venue was not serving food yet, but if neighboring Dolce is any indication, I think once the menu is released those looking for something to nibble on while knocking down the pins will be in for more than typical bowling alley appetizers. A brief chat with one of the builders was enlightening. The fast turn around of the establishment struck me with awe as I admired the detail in the architecture and the intricacies of the lighting. One floor remained unexplored, sectioned off with a velvet rope. I can only imagine this will be reserved for VIPs. The DJ booth is elevated above the bar, flanked by over-sized TV screens. I suspect that co-owners Wilmer Valderrama and Ashton Kutcher will be getting the party started from that perch, toasting the crowds with a shot of Patron, while bowlers take aim hoping for a lucky strike down the shimmering lanes of this lounge like entertainment center. Personally, I can't wait. Put me on the guest list.
