by Belva Vasey on I like when I can get two good things for a good price - namely food and music. ( It would be a perfect trifecta if sex was thrown in, but I guess I should be happy with what I can get ). Anyway... I really like the food here - my actual favorites are the succotash and the biscuits with gravy...okay, the cornbread is good too. The gravy is flavorful and is usually of a good consistency - not too thick ( like that elementary-school paste that some kids eat ), and not too thin, (like poor Victorian waif-gruel ). Every time I've come here, I've enjoyed the music - I love blues! Especially when they get some old guy plucking a guitar from the Delta...takes me to a past that I can only imagine. I think I could remember the acts better if I didn't drink so much.
by Gabriel R. on Alright, let me say this: I also found myself at the "1984" night on Thursday and soon realized that maybe what I've been needing all this time is to get back to my roots. So maybe the dj's aren't really spinning anything up top in the dj booth and maybe the interior leaves TONS to be desired and maybe the hot chick who was checkin' me out may have been a man...the bottom line is I danced like no one was watching and had a great time doing it. The crowd was most definitely mixed and I love that. The space is spread out into 2 decent sized rooms and each play there own style of music. The front plays more mainstream pop rock while the back room seemed to have a darker side to it ala Depeche Mode, etc. I have to say that my head was turning left and right as I saw quite a few very attractive, albeit mostly young, ladies...that's a very good thing for a single guy like me. I was in a time warp last night and absolutely loved it. Will I go back? I'm sure that one day I'll make my way down to Cat Club with some friends. I'm not going to go out of my way to every week but I will not forget the good time I had there last night. Beware, they don't take credit cards but have an ATM that doesn't work and I looked at my bank statement today and I was charged for the withdrawal I never received so be cautious when using it.
