by Lucretia Wankel on I wanted to like my experience here, but for a Monday night, I was not feeling it. The music was putting me to sleep, a very slow dub... The 10-11pm open vodka bar was a big plus, though there's a $2 surcharge for red bull and vodka. I can totally see this club being pretty cool when it's crowded. You can't help but be mesermized by the disco balls. The whole experience felt like being inside a club in space... Points for the awesome sound system, however, which was designed by Francois K. Not at all bought into the whole Cielo scene, but I am willing to give it another try on a non-Monday night.
by Winston G. on Pretty large space since it really is two places combined into one-- not sure which is which, but one side of this place had more of a club feel to it, while the other side had an outdoor patio and was a bit more dive bar ish. Overall, not too bad-- grey goose tonic is $9 bucks, and the well drinks are probably around $5 or $6 bucks. The wack thing about this place is the fact that they kicked out my roommate for doing nothing-- when some idiot split some drink on him. Anyways, might be back at this place again, but I will check out the rest of midtown. 3.5 stars overall.
by Elyse Dunwiddie on i came here for the first time to see tekitha (singer for Wu-Tang) and was totally blown away. i love renovated industrial or classical spots (cielo in NYC, la terrraza in Barcelona are musts) so mighty fit the bill perfectly. the unassuming exterior and entrance opens to an expansive room graced with an awesome mix of street and modern art on the walls. (look for the unicorn on the left hand side, one of my favorite pieces!) the crowd was stylish, but unpretentious. drinks were good and bartenders skilled. the sound system was RIDICULOUS! walking through the room i thought the pillars everywhere were structural, turns out they were massive speaker towers! this might just be my favorite venue in san francisco! also, they were playing krush groove so they get props for that! the cover can be a bitch tho. keep in mind its a bit tough to flag down a taxi in this part of town without having to walk to potrero (and even then) or mission st. i would suggest calling a cab or driving as parking is abundant.
