If mexican revolutionaries(i.e. Pancho Villa,Emiliano Zapata) schemed a plot to take over Willy Wonka's Factory this is what it would become. Velvet Margarita is everything that I expected to be, an Americanized over exaggerated depiction of a cantina. What's the deal with the ceiling of sombreros...really?! Pretty lively crowd for a rainy night in LA but we sat most of the time seeing as we were there for my friends' birthday dinner. We got there late so I had already ate but tried a little of my friends food. Very watered down salsa and flavorless beans. Every single one of them seemed unsatisfied with their food and they all left almost half of their plates. Tried my friends' asada quesadilla and nachos and neither were anything special.  The wait staff however was very prompt and needless to say I never had an empty pint in front of me. Murky path to the restroom and once your in said restroom you feel like you just warped into an interigation room. Wierd. One upside to this place is it's location so you can easily escape to go somewhere else. We made the best of it but I was looking forward to trying the food and was very dissapointed that it wasn't that great. However it does seem Iike a chill spot to come with friends and throw some back.

Boom-chik-boom-chik-boom-chik-boom-chik.  Rinse.  Repeat. Viva El Toro is rude to their neighbors.  They've hung up on me multiple times when I've called (and I was polite).  When I showed up in person after midnight once to ask that they turn the music down, the manager wasn't able to hear me because it was just that loud.  Once she stepped outside to listen to me, she insisted that the loud music is necessary for the purpose of running their business.  She said that she'd turn it down, but that was presumably to get rid of me because it was still just as loud once I got upstairs. I get it.  It's a bar.  In Williamsburg.  But sheesh, it shouldn't be shaking my floor and windows several nights a week.  Their music is the same insipid ooncey ooncey nightclub crap that you can get up and down Manhattan, and really, shouldn't you treat your ears better than that? Also, it's usually pretty empty.

Just got back from the fSound party at temple featuring diesel boy, photek, etc...    I loved it, great sound, amazing club, overall a wonderful experience.  sooo many couches downstairs to relax on.   the bass was so deep i swear we were getting a massage... it was awesome getting in for free off of the templesf website guest list after signing in around 2pm the day of the party...   haha sucks to have bought groovetickets presales...   BUT i guess fSound had to pay for the headliners somehow, thanks guys... as long as the club keeps attracting creative promoters that suite my taste (i.e. more than just house), i'll be there
