Cielo is somewhat of a strange place and I have mixed feelings on it. First off, the DJ and music is hands down 5 stars. Anyone who complains about the music doesn't know what real trance is all about. Hiphop is lame and trendy compared to this. I can't dance to hiphop, all I can do is bop my head. Moreover, the sound system is also 5 stars, hands down. On the downside, the place is small, drinks are overpriced, and the crowd is non-exclusive. They will let just about anyone in. I saw people of all age ranges, young and old, pretty and ugly, skinney and fat. You don't even need to be dressed well, jeans and a T will do. I am young professional and felt over dressed and misfit here. Finally, in order to truly relish the experience and have a good time, you need to be impaired somehow. Whether it be alcohol, E, or some kinds of drugs, the experience is amplified greatly, teamed up with the music. I can't even imagine going to this place sober, you will be the sole party pooper. Regardless how you feel, it is a unique experience and if I ever do come back, it will be strictly for the music.

Went there a while back, got a table at their upstairs area.  This place is huge!!!!  Like a warehouse feel to it.  I don't like it all that much, since the decor is lacking, unlike all the other hollywood chic places out there now. One thing they didn't lack was the sound system, for a huge place like that, the sound system was still rocking.

By taking the existing structure and maintaining it's original elements (it was a bank and a church in previous incarnations), they've managed to create a unique location. Church pews adorn one side, stained glass still illuminates, and you might be standing right where an old pastor used to deliver his sermon. Having seen the bathrooms first hand, I'm not as impressed as others have been. Maybe I've simply seen the lower east side new york bar bathroom style too much. And you can't beat the opaque greyhound with glowing ears hanging from the ceiling.
