by clarisse c. on Sloane, previously known as Duplex. Or 'Le Duplex' if you want to get technical. Um, this place, when it was Duplex, held many fond drunk memories of partying it up with my friends back in the day, such great, fun having times that it's always a pleasure to hit this place up, when it was called Duplex. We came here on Saturday night since the place we planned to go to had a line going for days. First things first, same on the outside, much cleaner on the inside. This place really revamped itself! It's really open on the inside, but it may be a little TOO open. This place seemed to bright for a nightclub, the lights need to be turned down just a smidge so people can dance away with out being self-concious, or make out. Your choice. We didn't head upstairs because it was roped off, but there was a good amount of people downstairs. Definitely some weirdys. Other than that, the price of drinks was reasonable. They also had some couches that filled up fast. OH and the bathroom is a definite improvement! Reminded me of Las Vegas club bathrooms with the attendant and solo stalls, really poor Las Vegas club bathrooms, but still nonetheless along that level. I talk about bathrooms a lot because I have to go to the bathroom a lot.
by Isiah Ivon on I love this is the origin of the word bimbo - seriously, the showgirls here (including Rita Hayworth) weren't known for their brains, but rather, uh, other attributes. They got to be known as Bimbo's girls, and the rest is history. I love that this place really hasn't changed much since its doors opened. From the cinema style marquee to the bartenders wearing formal white jackets (and pouring stiff drinks) , it's a step back in time. I love the art deco water nymph theme running through the joint. Bathrooms are crazy old school with several gilded make up stations to touch up your get-up, and the large coat check is much appreciated. Come check out a show here, and you get your choice between sitting up at the tables on the balcony, or for a much better view get down to the floor. Either way, you're in for a good night! But be prepared, these guys are kicking it old school when it comes to credit cards too - it's cash only. You've been warned.
