I remember when I first came to the Bay Area and everything was new to me. I remember coming to Cafe Du Nord to catch Augustana back before they got big before dying out again. I remember having the fries with the delicious assortment of sauces, and I remember absolutely loving the venue and wishing that I could one day perform here with my band that wasn't really quite a band yet. I don't remember having any beer because that was before I drank beer. (I was a horrible person.) Flash forward five years. My band, Festizio, performed here last night and had a complete blast. Everything from load-in to load-out was so effortless. Holly, the night manager, was incredibly accommodating and the sound technician, Pat, may be the nicest tech we've ever worked with. Unchanged in five years is their delicious bar menu, spruced up versions of casual cuisine - burgers, fries, pizza margherita, and more. Their selection of beers on draught is also unique, with ales from The Lost Abbey and some new places I can't recall. So thanks, Cafe Du Nord, for bringing back some old memories, creating some new ones, and fulfilling a dream! I love you!

This is where are all the candy kids go when they grow up to be yuppies. Still in it for the music, but just got older. They trade in their neon t-shirts for striped  button up ones. Rainbow leggings are replaced  by tight skirts. The music is still good though. Go if you like that kinda music. There is no pop, rock, hip hop anywhere in sight. If you want to dance, you go here. However sometimes people forget about that, too many people standing around on the dance floor with their drinks in there hand, trying to hold a conversation. We just bump into them continuously until they finish it and start to dance :) I did have this one girl step on me like a million times. Good thing she was small and wearing those ballerina flats instead of heals. To the first bartender who hooked us up thank you. Its been a while since I got served a shot in a martini glass. Its been even longer since I had to take 2 sips from the glass to finish it. Too bad their mixed drinks are shorts and are still 9-10 bucks. Oh its reasonable since I got the sting from paying $20 bucks each for cover. My gf was freezing and didn't want to wait in line for the guestlist. Straight through gen admin line with no hassle.

I think it seriously depends on what night you go...I went to see Bachelors of Science there and had a serious kick-ass time. EVERYONE was dancing, it was so awesome. The crowd was a nice mix, aside from the drunk girls spilling drinks everywhere while dancing. The photobooth is a great and fun idea! The ladies bathroom is awesome and huge, which I really appreciated and even though there was a lot of people in there, the line to it was not long at all. A great dance-y vibe with a good mix of ages crowd!
