by Shayne Corbett on I was taken here for a birthday dinner last night and they did not disappoint. We started with the edamame and wasabi peas - I'd go back just for this combo. I am definitely going to serve those two together in the future. For dinner, we split the hanger steak along with the mac and cheese (oh. my. cheesey spicy cheesy goodness), the sweet potato succotash (not so much a succotash in my opinion but more just roasted sweet potatoes in a tasty chili / oil) and the Spaetzel. Now, I don't know what spaetzel is or how to pronounce it but I want to now know everything about it. By far this was the favorite side but everything was great. We were there early but we promised to return when it's dark out. I think the ambiance will be perfect then. In the daylight, it's still a nice place though! Good date place
by Beth E. on In town for the weekend and wandering around, we walked in for a bite to eat and some drinks. The building itself is impressive, with its huge columns and stained-glass windows. High ceilings, a long bar, a bunch of terrariums, and church pews as the booth seats rounded out an eclectic mix of decor. We ordered beer, salad, and burgers. Our server, Anny, with her bright pink hair, piercings, and tattoos, added to the decor of the bar, and couldn't have been nicer. There were a couple large parties whose orders went into the kitchen at the same time. Anny came over to let us know that it would probably be a few minutes before our food came out because of the large parties, which was nice. We weren't left wondering what was going on, and just as she said, as soon as those tables got their food, plates started pouring out of the kitchen for everyone else. The salad was good, mixed spring greens, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onion with a good balsamic vinaigrette. The burger was tasty, they definitely mix something in with the meat which gave it a good flavor, and nice, thick steak fries to top it off. Add in a couple Yuenglings and all is well. The staff was great. They were very accommodating, getting folks into the booth they wanted as others cleared out, and rearranging tables to make room for a party of 10 who were coming in as we were making our way out. The bathrooms are neat in their own way. Two bathrooms, both of which were labeled "Both". The sinks have a funky maze of welded pipes providing water to the faucets. Pretty cool. Pretty cool, indeed. Yay, I'm definitely a fan.
by Ariane R. on something about saying, "the drinks here are a great value!" makes me feel like i have finished teetering on the edge, and fully toppled over into alcoholism. oh well... the drinks here are a great value! martuni's is FUN. gay and straight, young and old, everyone can get trashed and sing along to jazz standards whilst sipping on the pint-sized martini of his or her choice. we meet new people every time we go... and we aren't overly friendly at all. it's just that kind of place.
