by Samuel Brzezinski on five stars for not having anybody from the marina in here. five stars for serving yummy 2 dollar tacos. I ate five. I think most people would fill up on 3. five stars for a location where I always have parking karma. five stars for good fast service, friendly bartender, sweet owner. two stars for a lot of hipsters but whatever they aren't so bad
by Fredric Wentling on There's a lot of mixed review for Iguana, and I can certainly see why. Iguana is another restaurant/ lounge. The set up is such where the first floor is for dining and the second floor and basemen (never opens anymore) is for lounging/ dancing. There was an Asian dude teaching salsa Thursday night around 6:30, I know, weird huh? The place didn't pick up until after 8 where it's mostly salsa / meringue music. Later on, they were spinning hip-hop/ top 40. It's funny how when they switch from salsa to hip-hop, everyone stops dancing. Oh no, what do I do now? But the crowd in general is pretty laid back and I didn't experience any of the BS dress code issue. In fact, there were no bouncer/ doorman the entire night. Maybe this place is different on the weekends, but seriously though, it's really not a lounge/ club, so why would people come for that on the weekend's right? Now, the one positive - their mojito. Wow... There's a Smorgasbord of different flavor mojito and let's say I didn't survive to try all the flavors. I spend a good part of my night on my blackberry, so I guess I had a blast!!!
by Jill M. on That was a SMALL? Holy cow! After a year in Austin, I finally tried Amy's Ice Cream. Maybe I just got a really generous server, but I swear my "Grasshoppa" (mint) ice cream must have been 1/2 a pint. Jonathan's double chocolate looked like a whole pint. Both ice creams were extremely creamy and delicious, and the hot fudge was also excellent. Would I spend $10 for two ice creams very often? No. I could get 1/2 a gallon of Blue Bell at the store for $4. But next time I want to splurge, I won't hesitate to go here again. Friendly employees and a nice outdoor space make this a great spot for a special treat. Please note--CASH OR CHECK ONLY.
