Let me be blunt: I'm not a big fan of L.A., though I've been here 11 years (yikes!). And Hollywood is like a live thesis on the reasons why I don't... (more)

Decent scene as far as the mission goes. 10 dollar cover. Seemed to be a lot of folks on Saturday night. The music was decent and danceable. I... (more)

So it's 2AM and the bars closed, but you have a ton of energy and you happen to be in the gayborhood- welll follow that womp womp womp down the alley and you'll find pure open for that extra hour of dancing and drinking. I ended up here randomly one night when I wasn't ready to call it a night, the night could not have ended better than it did that night- to the dj spinning the golden girls theme song.

Basically a lot of what I'm going to say has already been said -- Ella is a cool place with a speakeasy vibe to it, nothing spectacular about it. Biggest pros are that it does tend to be a pretty attractive crowd (last time I was there I ran into a bachelorette party, did not complain about that) but on a Friday night it gets waaaay too packed and the DJ just isn't that good. Definitely going to make my way there mid week to get a better feel for what it's like based on Daniel R's post

This place is definitely interesting!  A place to be seen & to watch the diverse eclectic mix of interesting people of all ages. I loooove martinis, and this place has awesome ones!! The music and bar staff are awesome, but forget about a dance floor.  They just push tables and chairs to the side & thats the dance floor!! There is a cover charge, forgot what it is cause I never pay , I have connections!  Parking may be tricky, but I believe there is a lot across the street. I usually take a taxi. The biggest thing to remember is its kinda hard to find.  Check out Halo's web site to get better directions.  Cool web site as well.
