by Blake B. on I sadly have never been to Delux before until tonight. There's not much to say that hasn't been already said in the 300+ reviews. Delux is good, atmosphere is cool, service is great, and if you sit at the long high top'd table you will make friends with the people sitting next to you. Their Sweet Potato fries are bombDOTcom....the aioli that comes with them is amazing, I would put it on everything if I had a bottle of it at home. Had the Delux Burger...flavor wise it had everything going for it, and everything that I've heard people rave about.....BUT 1 thing: it was madly overcooked, kinda killed it for me. I normally get my burger's medium, but I know you should get the Delux burger med-rare, so I sprung for it and it came out close to well done :( It's the only thing holding me back from giving it that extra star....
by Fredrick Fonua on Tex-Mex Fajitas (Dinner) Coconut Flan Grilled Filet Mignon (Dinner) Stacked Enchiladas (Dinner) Guacamole (Dinner) And the quest for some decent tex mex / mexican food in NYC continues. Unfortunately it did not end here at Iguana The Tex Mex Fajitas lacked a lot of flavor. The steak was burnt to a crisp and well done. I felt like i was eating beef jerky. The tortilla yet again was store bought.... WHY doesnt ANYONE in NYC make their own tortillas. Its kind of sad that the ones that actually do are those hole in the walls owned by asian ppl. which the tortillas are EXTREMELY thick and floury but i give them A for effort unlike all these "decent" places where they dont even bother and use store bought tortillas. The coconut flan was ok. It was decent. Nothing spectacular. The Grilled Filet Mignon was WAY over cooked when i asked for Medium Rare. There was no hint of red at all. It was on the border of Medium / medium well. Stacked Enchiladas had a weird texture and consistency. The chicken was very dry and was similar to a paste. It wasnt an enchilada. Laguna is EXTREMELY overpriced. The food wasnt THAT bad but for the price it gets one star. This restaurant is priced at a 3 star restaurant level yet the quality was as good as any major chain such as Chevy's or something. a very big disappointment.
by Leandro Trundy on Came here on Saturday night w/ a bunch of girlfriends for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere was really stunning! I definitely recommend the Red Mojave cocktail- kind of strawberry mojito drink. The sushi and food were decent, but way overpriced. The music was super loud, so i could only really talk to the person next to me. I would recommend this place for drinks and the lounge, but not for a quiet meal or quality/well-priced sushi.
